Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is observed annually on November 11 in the United States to remember and honor military veterans. President Woodrow Wilson celebrated the first Armistice Day in 1919 to mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Congress renamed Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all who have served in the military.

This Veteran’s Day Milestone Moment provides a time to honor and show appreciation for veterans who have played a role in protecting our freedom and affirm God as our source of hope and comfort.

This Milestone Moment consists of two pages that are reproducible in your local setting. It can be sent in emails or printed.

· Page 2 provides a conversation guide* that includes talking and listening to one another, reading a verse/s from the Bible, and a prayer and blessing. It includes a food for thought question on how one might show love for one’s neighbor through an act of service.
